The Givens Foundation for African American Literature's special invitational education conference, “Cultivating Literary Minds Using African American Literature” will be held

                               November 6, 2009

                               8:30a to 9:00p

                                               at the

                     Holiday Inn and Suites

                               Bloomington, MN. 

CONFERENCE GOAL

  • Expanding the knowledge of professional educators as to the methodologies and academic benefits of using African African American literature to inspire the achievement of students of African ancestry.

COLLABORATION W/ AAAL

This conference is planned in conjunction with the biennial education conference hosted by the African-American Academy for Accelerated Learning (AAAL), “Celebrating Successes in Educating African American Children,” November 6-7, 2009, also at the Holiday Inn Suites in Bloomington.  Renowned author and educator Alfred Tatum is the keynote speaker at the kick-off banquet for the AAAL conference.   This two-day event is a historic collaboration between the Givens Foundation for African American Literature and AAAL.

The Givens Foundation is inviting a select group of schools and districts to attend our conference on November 6, 2009.  Please encourage teams of teachers to participate.  Also, take advantage of this unique educational opportunity and register for both conferences (Givens Foundation and AAAL) at a special discounted rate.
